H.M.A.S "Australia", completed 1928, built by John Brown & Co, Clydebank. In 1940 Australia was in operations against the Vichy French naval forces at Dakar. In August 1942 she took part in assisting United States forces landing at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. In 1944 allied landings began in enemy held pacific island territories and Australia was part of the force.
