approximately 400 migrants on-board; a long slow voyage of 147 days; fight between master and second Mate, almost leading to mutiny; Whales sighted either side of the line, 6 and 9 August 1853 and south of Bight on 30/10/1853; saw whaling off Table bay during call at CGH, 8-24 September 1853; sighted a waterspout a "mile high" bearing down on them at terrible speed in stormy Southern Ocean on 4/10/1853. Helmsman was able to narrowly avoid; c15/10/1853 a flapping sail knocked a passenger of Forecastle to deck below.
