Ocean S.S.Co.Ltd. (A. Holt & Co. mgr) Blue Funnel Line, reg. Liverpool. 1915 April: Employed on Admiralty service between Alexandria and the Dardanelles carrying Indian troops. Came under fire from the Turkish shore batteries, 2 killed. Next used as a wounded reception ship. Later: Rescued 49 survivors from the torpedoed troopship Royal Edward, sunk on Aug.13 in the Aegean with the loss of 132 lives. 1916: Mar.31: Torpedoed off Ushant by U-44. 5 lost.
