The "Flying Morn" was built in Blyth Northumberland England in the yard of "Hodgson and Soulsby" and not s stated by "fltng". All the other details agree with my Knowledge
Robert Soulsby was my grandfather
I have in my possession the original painting of the smiling morn which appears in several places including images in Google etc
The script on the reverse of the painting states
"Smiling Morn of Blyth 244nett
Built by Hodgson and Soulsby
August 1870
111,1x25.3x14.3
Afterwards sold to SYDNEY N.S.W
JRGQ"
I note that in your other page of "ships built in Blyth"
several other ships built by Hodgson and Soulsby are also listed
Because my late uncle SYDNEY Soulsby had this painting in his possession and he was named and spelt in Honour of the sale of Smiling Morn to Sydney NSW. this vessel became the notable one in Family history none of the rest are on record here
Yours Sincerely
Kenneth w Soulsby
