Journey Notes

The Sultana was 47 days in getting to theFix this text line, and has consequently made the run from thence in 62 days. The commander tried "circular sailing" to a limited extent, but found great difficulty in getting to the north ward again, owing to the prevalence of N.E. and N.N.E. winds. The passengers in the cabin are six in num ber, among whom we have the pleasure to wel come Mr Arthur Blyth and his lady. Of the free emigrants, to the number of 241, the greater number are agricultural labourers, many of whom have friends in the colony. The ship has arrived in prime condition. The commander is highly spoken of; and so prevalent was the kindly feeling on board that addresses expressive of high satisfaction were unanimously signed and presented to the Cap tain, Surgeon-superintendent, and the Rev. Mr Shoales, religious instructor. Register 27/7/1850.
