Journey Notes

The British Lion made her passage in 104 days, and arrived at the Lightship on Saturday; but she is not likely to proceed any further for several days on account of drawing 20 feet water. The voyage from Plymouth has been much the same as others already reported - three weeks of foul weather to commence with, and it was only on the 38th day the Line was crossed. Then the fine trade winds were superseded by light variables; by after rounding the Cape the orthodox gales set in, and blew fiercely for several days, rendering it necessary to batten down twice or thrice, and involving the loss of the starboard quarter-boat, which was washed away from the davits. From this, some idea may be formed of the weather. Register 15/7/1866 With 428 Souls government assisted migrants.
