The captain of the barque Caesar Godefroy has decided on landing his passengers, 228 in number, from the lightship anchorage, as he has no intentions of entering the harbour, his cargo being for Sydney. The mortality on board the Caesar Godefroy has been considerable, viz :- 1 death from dropsy, 7 dysentery, 1 consumption, 2 cramp – being 11 in number. Six of the sufferers were adults and five children. The captain of the Caesar Godefroy having landed immediately after he had dropped anchor, with the intention of proceeding to his agent, took with him the manifest and passenger list; our Shipping Reporter consequently had no opportunity of copying them. Cleared (9 Jan) for Sydney with 11 passengers.
