Complaints were signed by 97 passengers against captain, surgeon, second mate, purser, captain's steward for assault, fornication, adultery, selling of ardent spirits, permitting gambling, smoking and drinking between decks, etc. etc., resulted in gratuities being withheld; His Excellency severely reprimanded Immigration Agent Brewer, who was later dismissed from the post.
