Journey Notes

At daylight on Saturday the N.D.L. liner Gneisenau steamed into the Semaphore anchorage from Bremen, and berthed at the Outer Harbour immediately. She left Bremerhaven on March 11, and had a fine-weather voyage to within a day or so of Fremantle. There a strong south-east monsoon brought high seas and heavy squalls. The Western Australian port was reached on April 20, and crossing the Bight south-westerly winds with rain squalls were experienced. Having landed 310 tons of cargo, the Gneisenau continued the voyage east late on Saturday afternoon. Register 27/4/1914
